STANDARD DISTANCE TRIATHLON (with Relay Teams)

You can compete in the Clacton Triathlon even if there is a section not for you.The sea swim puts some people off !

If you want to form a 3 person team (must be 3) where each member completes just one leg, the Swim, Bike or Run, then the Clacton Triathlon Relay is for you.

PLEASE REGISTER AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE ON THE DAY AS WE CANNOT REGISTER EVERYONE IN 20 MINUTES IF YOU ALL TURN UP AT ONCE

NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ALLOWED.

1500m Open Water Sea Swim

A Tide assisted swim along the coast in a South Westerly direction with the majority of the course parallel with the beach; Starting 1.4km North East of the Transition Area and Finishing opposite Clacton Sailing Club, Holland Haven. Full safety cover is provided.

40km Bike
2 Laps of a 20km route around the Tendring District.
NB. Due to unsuitable road surfaces there are ‘Non-Timed’ sections between Transition One (T1) and the Bike Start Line PLUS the Bike Finish Line and Transition Two (T2). The time on these two sections is deducted from the competitors overall time. (A maximum of 3 minutes 30 seconds is allowed on each section - Out and In. This works out at an average of 10km per hour for each ‘Non-Timed’ Section)

10km Run
The route takes runners along the coast in a South-Westerly direction (towards Clacton Pier) using the Top Promenade for 5km ‘Out’ and the Bottom Promenade for 5km ‘Back’. Half Way Turnaround is at Clacton Pier. The final section returns to the Top Promenade at Holland Haven Radar Tower where Competitors run back towards the Transition Area and the Finish Line.
